The Natatorium services Oxford, Metamora, Addison, Orion Township, and Dryden communities. The natatorium features an 8 Lane 25-yard pool with either a diving or shallow end well. The following programs are at our Oxford location:
• Learn to swim program (1:3 Ratio Group lessons, progression based curriculum)
• Year-round competitive swim team
• Private lessons
• Open swim – Saturday Mornings

Learn to swim parents are able to view swimming lessons from dedicated benches on deck located a few feet from the pool or from the stands that are above the pool. Each week we have many swim school classes and several swim team practices

Reed Heller
Development Director

Reed Heller graduated from Eller, the college of management at the University of Arizona in 2016 and moved from Arizona to work directly under the leadership of Nim Shapira. Reed studied and volunteered abroad in Argentina and Barcelona to gain a better understanding of world business and cultures. Reed is actively involved with BNI partners for success and the Detroit City Moishe House locally here in Michigan.

Reed states ” I have grown more at AQUA, than at my previous position working for a billion-dollar company.  I am part of a family at AQUA.” Reed believes motivation and hard work are the corner stones for success.

Jordan Gal
AQUA Instructor

Jordan has worked for AQUA Club for a little over a year now and having the ability to teach the future generation of swimmers is one of the most rewarding feeling I get. In my free time I usually like to go play baseball and hockey with my friends and family. If It wasn’t for me learning how to swim I would I would have never found my passion for teaching if it wasn’t for the swim lessons.

Anna Charnstrom

Bio

Anna began competitive swimming at age 8 for the Palmer Polar Bears Swim Club in Palmer, Alaska.  After high school, Anna was on the college team for Minnesota State, Mankato where she met her husband, Chuck.  Their 3 kids became involved in swimming at an early age.

Anna has coached at the club level in Minnesota and been the Assistant Girls Swim Coach for Oxford High School for the past several years.  She loves watching kids find a sport they can be passionate about and grow as swimmers and people.

Ashley Kavain
Facility Manager

Bio

Ashley graduated in 2013 from Conant High School in Hoffman Estates Illinois, was a competitive swimmer myself throughout high school.  After high school I began teaching lessons and lifeguarding while attending Harper College in Palatine graduating with an a associate in social work. I found my passion working with children in the water watching them grow to not only be successful swimmers but individuals as well. My goal is to ensure each child that comes across in my life has equal opportunity to be the best that can be by meeting their needs. the best to my ability.

Jeff Musson
Assistant Coach

Bio

Jeff joined our AQUA Family in mid 2016. He started swimming competitively at Salem High School in Plymouth, Michigan (Go Rocks!) and was part of the two-time Conference Champion Team and a member of the 400 free relay team at MHSAA Boys Division I Swim Championship.

He went on to College to swim for Michigan Technological University (Go Huskies!) competing in the GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) and was Captain of the team. Jeff is passionate about swimming, and is excited to be part of the AQUA coaching team – Go AQUA!!

Diane Fistler
Dryland Coach

Bio

Diane Fistler has been a licensed Physical Therapist since 1992 and has worked with patients of different age levels and in many different settings.  She is excited to assist with developing a program to decrease injuries to swimmers due to muscle imbalance.

Sheena May
Assistant Coach

Bio

Coach Sheena fell in love with the sport of swimming at the age of 6. Since then she swam for 15 years as a competitive swimmer ranging from USA age group swimming to high school swimming to collegiate swimming where she excelled in butterfly.

While in college, she began coaching and has been involved with coaching USA swimming ever since. Coach Sheena started to work with AQUA in 2017. Coach Sheena’s day job is as a special education teacher and she loves being able to combine two things close to her heart…teaching and swimming.

Dan Jagger
Assistant Coach

Dan Jagger passion for swimming started with the Brandon middle school swim team and evolved from there.  He swam at Brandon High school all four years under coach Todd Duncan and Dane Westphal including their first conference championship team in 2010.  Individually, Dan managed a second-place finish in the 100-breaststroke contributing to the title.

After his swim career, Dan stayed involved in aquatics wanting to help athletes achieve their goals volunteering for Dave Seagraves at Fenton Tigershark aquatics.  From 2012-2017, Dan coached at the Farmington Family YMCA stingrays helping to coach multiple Y Zone qualifiers.

Coach Dan is looking forward to working with coaches and athletes at Aqua to help them achieve their goals!

Laura Mace
Instructor

Bio

My name is Laura and I’m 15 years old. I’m going into my junior year and it will be my third year on the high school swim team. I really enjoy short course season and I have received my varsity letter during the past season for high school swimming. my favorite strokes are freestyle and backstroke.  I really enjoy swimming and I love that I get to share my passion with my students 🙂

Mike Kavanaugh
AQUA Club Head Coach

Bio

Mike has been coaching for over 15 years, spending time between Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois coaching swimmers from novices to multiple NCSA qualifiers and everywhere in-between. Mike joined AQUA Club in 2016. Mike currently holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Exercise Science from Concordia University – Chicago and holds a Bachelor Degree from UW-Oshkosh. Mike started sharing his passion for swimming in 2004. While attending UW-Oshkosh, Mike coached at the Fox Cities YMCA. Upon graduating, Mike relocated with his wife to Chicago and joined Mundelein Mustang Swim Club as an Assistant Coach working his way up to Head Age Group Coach. Next, as a Head Coach in 2012 with the Beloit Aquatic Team, he produced their first National Level swimmer in over 20 years! Mike spent 3 years with the Woodstock Dolphins. While at Woodstock, he guided the program to produce its first Senior State Medalist, its first Speedo Sectional Qualifiers, and its first swimmers at NASA Jr National Cup!! Mike also produced many Age Group State Qualifiers, Zone Qualifiers, and rewrote the majority of the club’s swimming records.

Fun Fact: Mike is as nerdy about computers as he is about swimming. Mike loves to spend time with his wife Rachel and his Black Lab Charlie 🙂
