Franklin Athletic Club services Southfield, Franklin, West Bloomfield and surrounding communities. The pool and pool area were recently renovated in 2018 with a fresh and contemporary look. The following pool’s programs include are for the Southfield Community:

  • Learn to swim program
  • Private and Semi-Private lessons
  • Open swim as a member of FAC

Learn to swim parents are able view swimming lessons from dedicated bleacher benches on deck located a few feet from the pool. Each week we have many swim school classes and several swim team practices!

Reed Heller
Development Director

Reed Heller graduated from Eller, the college of management at the University of Arizona in 2016 and moved from Arizona to work directly under the leadership of Nim Shapira. Reed studied and volunteered abroad in Argentina and Barcelona to gain a better understanding of world business and cultures. Reed is actively involved with BNI partners for success and the Detroit City Moishe House locally here in Michigan.

Reed states ” I have grown more at AQUA, than at my previous position working for a billion-dollar company.  I am part of a family at AQUA.” Reed believes motivation and hard work are the corner stones for success.

Khadidatou Toure

Khadidatou has worked with children of all ages in different work settings in and out of the pool. At an early age she started baby sitting and that passion has lead her to work at AQUA. Her hardworking dedicated personality is what has helped her in work and school alike. In her free time Khadidatou likes to go play soccer and is a forward on her high school team. Khadidatou has the goal to become a lawyer based on her time in debate club and impeccable writing skills.

Oliver Yu
AQUA Instructor

Oliver Yu is an experienced swim instructor with AQUA Swim Club. His three year experience ranges from teaching private swim lessons in all varying levels of swimming, to managing and teaching as the head swim camp counselor at Franklin Athletic Club, located in Franklin, Michigan. The combination of heightened patience and detailed explanations that are contoured to each individual student has lead countless successful advancements in AQUA Swim School students over the three years.

For leisure, Oliver enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and partaking in independent research individually and alongside university faculty. Oliver is an enthusiastic and outgoing swim instructor that will work closely with parents to accomplish the goals of swimmers, ranging from confidence and safety in the water, to the fast-paced competitive environments found in higher level swimming

Jordan Gal
AQUA Instructor

Jordan has worked for AQUA Club for a little over a year now and having the ability to teach the future generation of swimmers is one of the most rewarding feeling I get. In my free time I usually like to go play baseball and hockey with my friends and family. If It wasn’t for me learning how to swim I would I would have never found my passion for teaching if it wasn’t for the swim lessons.

Joey Tomei
AQUA Instructor

Joey began swimming lessons when he was very young and became swimming competitively in the third grade. After participating in a club for a few years, Joey began swimming for his middle school team followed by his high school team. Swimming has been a major part of Joey’s life for the past nine years and he plans to stay in the pool as long as possible. His favorite event to swim is the 200 freestyle where he achieved the best time of 1:55.14 at the final meet of his senior year high school.

During his high school years, Joey was a captain of the team from his sophomore year to his senior year. He would always push his teammates to be the best that they can be. Joey plans to study materials engineering at Michigan Technological University. After college, he hopes to work at a mountain bike company or a high-performance automotive company.

Jasmine Ward

Jasmine is a Michigander and has been working with AQUA for 1 year. She has always lived an active lifestyle playing basketball and running track for Troy High school. She has made great friends through sports and continues to spend time with them in her free time. Jasmine is a self-taught swimmer and was thrown into a pool at an early age. She enjoys teaching and working with children and adults. Jasmine stated “When your in the pool, the possibilities are endless.”
