Swimming is a life skill that every child must learn. The benefits of swimming are endless and impact the body and mind. Learning how to swim is beneficial for all children, but particularly for children with special needs. AQUA Swim School works with all ages and all levels because we care! At AQUA we created the right program for your child and his needs: build muscles, exercise, safety training, and Special Olympic preparation.

AQUA Believe in three major goals:

  1. Physical Benefits
  2. Water Safety Skills
  3. Emotional & Mental Health

Physical Benefits

Swim lesson is a great exercise for everyone any age and ability level. For special needs children swimming has significant benefits for a short and long term:

  • Improve flexibility
  • Swimming helps to build core strength
  • Improve coordination
  • Work on motor skills
  • Build endurance
  • Improve cognitive benefits
  • Reduce risk of diseases
  • Better control of weight
  • Improve balance and body awareness

Water Safety Skills

Safety it not a HOBBY! Water safety among children with special needs is a major issue and must be taking seriously. According to the National Autism Association (June 2016), the risk of death by drowning is twice as high for children with ASD than in the general population. In 2009, 2010, and 2011, accidental drowning accounted for 91% of injury-related deaths in the U.S among children with ASD ages 14 years and younger.

Give your child the gift of experience because every child must learn how to swim, when? YESTERDAY. Drowning is preventable, parents can reduce the risk of accident drowning. At AQUA we not only teach water safety but also educate parents about drowning and swimming.

Emotional and Mental Health

Every child is special and has a different learning style. At AQUA we believe in every child and his individual progress. Swimming builds confidence and enhance self-esteem- AQUA teach to your child abilities, and what they can do. Special needs children need to be encouraged by the tasks that they can achieve and less on what they CANNOT DO.

Also, Swim lessons build trust and confidence with your child, it is essential for the progress where your child trust the swim coach and have a strong relationship. The water not only offers them great motivation, but also gives those with limited movement on land free movement and independence –possibly for the first time in their lives.
